Other Insurance

Challenge:

Use the same process as you used for selecting auto and health insurance to shop for another type of insurance.

Getting Organized:

STEP 1 Consider the variety of insurance needs that exist, such as

    life insurance

    homeowner's insurance (renters)

    mortgage insurance

    flight insurance

    kidnap insurance

    salary insurance

STEP 2 Take stock of your life and decide which of the above insurance needs is the most urgent. I know--you'd rather not spend any more on premiums, but you have to finish the game.

Gathering Information:

STEP 3 Locate at least two companies either on the internet or in a phone book (you may need to request a brochure) and get all the information you can about premiums and discounts.

Sorting and Analyzing:

Do you have enough samples to make an informed decision?

STEP 4 Set up a chart as you have done again and again so that you can compare each policy trait by trait.

Creating the Final Answer:

Selecting the best policy for you

STEP 5 Show your instructor which policy best meets your and remains within your budget.

Evaluation:

STEP 6
Write a brief report or orally describe to your instructor how effective you feel you performed this selection process.

Be sure to revisit your monthly budget and adjust the monthly "other" insurance payment figure.
